Palm apartments are well-located in a central area which is both safe and convenient.

The apartments are totally private and, no one is over-looked.  There is a great sense of community, living at Palm Apartments gives you the opportunity to make new friends.

SIMBA SUPERMARKET - 24hrs

Supermarket is at the top of the road. It stocks almost everything that you may need and is open 24hours a day. They also have a restaurant which turns into a popular bar in the evenings.

KIGALI HeiGHTS - 6.30am-10pm everydaY

Kigali Heights is Kigali’s smartest and newest shopping centre. It offers a large supermarket, clothes and homeware shops, several banks, a pharmacy, liquor shop and lots of restaurants, cafes and bars (a few are listed below under restaurants).

LA GALLETTE SUPERMARKET - 8am-9pm

The closest La Gallette is in the MTN Centre (a five-minute drive from the apartments), it is filled with lots of imported food (cheese, cereals, chocolate) and also has a good meat selection. it is also well stocked with dry goods. 

SAWA CITY SUPERMARKET - 8am-9pm

The closest Sawa City Supermarket is a five-minute drive away from Palm Apartments. It offers most foods and has a Brood Bakery which is highly recommended for fresh breads and pastries.

NAKUMATT SUPERMARKET - 24hrs

Nakumatt is a large supermarket that has pretty much everything you can imagine, they sell food, homeware, toiletries, stationary and toys.

There are two Nakumatt’s in town. One in the KTC (Kigali City Tower) and the other in the UTC (Union Trade Centre).

FRUIT AND VEGTABLES

For fresh fruit and vegetables you will find a great selection in the local markets. 

ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA

Radisson Blu

The Radisson Blu has a tennis court, swimming pool, gym, spa and two restaurants. (It is one of the best spots for free, fast wifi)

The Hut - 11-10.30pm everyday

As mentioned above in the restaurant section, The Hut has a great swimming pool.  It also has a wonderful view, making it a charming place to hang out during the day.

Lemigo hotel

Lemigo hotel has a swimming pool, fitness centre, restaurant and casino.

Nyarutarama Sport Club

Nyarutarama Sport Club has several tennis courts, a swimming pool and gym.

Waka Fitness – Monday-Thursday 5.30am - 11pm / Friday - Sunday 5.30am - 9pm

Waka is a well-equipped gym with amazing views.  They have daily exercise classes and great changing/shower facilities.

Restaurants/Cafés/Bars

There are so many great restaurants in Kigali and luckily, we have plenty surrounding Palm Apartments. a few of our favourites are listed below.

Sola Luna (Italian) - 12-10pm (closed Mondays)

Sola luna has a tasty pizza made in their pizza oven and a delicious Italian menu (pasta, fish, meats, salads, and wine). The restaurant has amazing views overlooking Kicukiro and Remera and has a fun atmosphere.  At lunch a buffet is laid out and every Monday evening there’s is a quiz night.  Winner of the quiz gets their supper free!

Habesha (Ethiopian)- 12-11pm everyday

Good Ethiopian food and lovely outdoor area. Nice place to go to for lunch or a laid back evening.

The Hut (Bar and Grill) – 11-10.30pm everyday

Just round the corner The Hut offers grilled meats and good vegetarian options. They serve cocktails and have a lovely pool set in an attractive garden. 

Inka Steakhouse - 12-10.00pm Tuesday - Sunday

Cocktails, steaks, ribs and grilled meats. Need I say any more! 

Great Wall of China (Chinese) - 7am-12pm everyday

Local Chinese restaurant serving lunch and dinner.

Asian Kitchen (Thai) - 11am-10pm everyday

A small Thai restaurant serving noodles, curries and soups.  The restaurant is Thai run and serves good authentic food.

Inzura Rooftop Cafe - 8.30am-8pm Monday-FridaY 10am-6.30pm Saturday-Sunday

A peaceful café with wonderful views. Inzura café has tasty sandwiches, snacks and delicious coffee and teas. It is a great option for a work spot as it has internet.

There is also a book shop with an interesting selection of African focused fiction and non-fiction books as well as lots of other choices.

Java House (international) - 6.30am-10pm everyday

A well-known East African chain, Java house has a varied menu (breakfast menu, Mexican food, burgers, sandwiches, salads , deserts etc).  There is reliable wifi for those wanting to work. It gets busy during the weekends.

Delizia Italiana (ice cream parlour & cafe)- 7am-10pm everyday

Not only does Delizia Italiana serve delicious Italian ice cream but they also have a good selection of food (sandwiches, lasagne, meats, cheese etc) and Italian coffee.

Rider’s Lounge (international) - 24HRS everyday

A Ugandan sports bar and restaurant serving international food.  Wi-Fi is available, Rider’s can be used as a place to work, meet friends for lunch/dinner or watch a game.

Filini (Italian)- 12-3pm & 7-11pm everyday

Filini serves impressive cocktails, a delicious Italian menu and wine list.  They have a pizza oven and the service is professional.

Meze Fresh (TEX MEX) -Tuesday-Saturday 11am -11pm

Sunday 12-8pm(closed Monday)

A fun Tex-Mex place serving salad bowls, huge crispy tacos, burritos stuffed with beef, chicken or pork and a range of sides.  A cool place to hang out over a few drinks.
